Title: Neutron star oscillations as a probe of modified theories of gravity

Abstract: Due to their extreme compactness, neutron stars provide an interesting testbed for general relativity and modified theories of gravity. On the other hand, the persisting uncertainties in the nuclear equation of state for ultra-dense matter inevitably introduce difficulties in attempts to constrain alternatives to general relativity with neutron star observations. In this talk, I will discuss some prospects for disentangling gravity/equation-of-state effects by exploring the richer oscillation spectrum of neutron stars in modified theories of gravity. Additionally, I will discuss how the picture drawn from the analysis of linear perturbations is enriched by investigations of the nonlinear dynamics of oscillating neutron stars.
