Title: A new view of the double copy

Abstract: The double-copy is often described as a map that takes a product of tree-level gluon amplitudes and outputs the tree-level graviton amplitudes. This in itself is rather remarkable since the Lagrangian descriptions for Yang-Mills theory and general relativity are so different and there is no hint of the double-copy in the Feynman rules. The double-copy is more broadly a map that allows certain field theory amplitudes to be mapped to those of certain other theories. The question then is what is the selection principle for this map? Or what is the most general self-consistent double-copy map that can be defined? In this talk I'll review the double-copy and explain new ideas to generalize it.
